An Exciting 2009

Wild Empire will be collaborating with the Vocal Consort this year to present a series of exciting performances.

But first, a bit on who Vocal Consort is:

The Vocal Consort was formed by the South West Community Development Council (CDC) in September 2001 with the aim of being a premier community choir for residents to share their love of singing while promoting community bonding. Its talented members range from secondary school students to working professionals under the direction of accomplished local conductor Mr Nelson Kwei.

Mr Nelson Kwei is an accomplished conductor, music arranger and vocal tutor in the music scene, having attained a Licentiate in singing from the Guildhall School of Music. He won the coveted title of “Most Promising Singer” in an Asian Art Song Competition at the age of 20. Mr Nelson Kwei was also the first choral scholar from Singapore. He was awarded a prestigious scholarship in 1990 by the Ministry of Education to do an advance post-graduate studies in Choral Conducting from the Royal Academy of Music in London.

More information of the Music Director, Mr. Nelson Kwei and The Vocal Consort can be found on the following website: http://www.thevocalconsort.org.sg.

For the first time since the inception of Wild Empire, not only are we going to collaborate with semi-professional choirs under the tutelage of a world-class conductor, the choir will also have the opportunity to perform with a full-orchestra, participate in world-class competition and be a part of the much-awaited Singapore Arts Festival 2009!

This is indeed a year not to be missed!
